We have been hurt and seriously injured working with horses in the past 25 years, and those instances were 100% rider error or poor judgement about a situation that we chose to place ourselves and the horse in. We take full responsibility for what occurs once we saddle and ride a horse. It is the riders obligation and responsibility to fully understand their own riding abilities and to assess the horse that they are riding, regardless of what they have been told about a horse. We always take precautions when riding an unfamiliar horse, regardless of the story we were told on the horses training level, experience or disposition. A responsible rider, will make that assesment on their own or with the guidance of a seasoned horse person to determine if the horse suits their skill level and needs. Every rider possesses different skills and one horsemans idea of a green horse is entirely different from another.

Unexpected things will happen under saddle, period... regardless of the horses training level or the riders experience. The rider MUST be physically and mentally able to handle whatever situation may arise. It does not mean that you will never get hurt, but it does mean that you acknowledge that you are riding an animal that can potentially cause serious injury and death. Many very seasoned, professional and highly skilled riders have sustained injuries riding horses because something unexpected occured. Riding a horse is inherently dangerous and we acknowledge that fact
Horses do not set out to harm or injure their rider, they are only as successful under saddle as their training allows them to be in conjunction with the necessary skills needed from the rider.

We have never owned or sold a dangerous horse. As with everything else in life, we truly believe it is prudent to make decisions and judgments based on your own personal experience, not based on rumors, blogs or off-hand comments that are most likely completely unfounded and not based on the truth. We are sympathetic towards anyone who is injured on a horse, regardless off the circumstances as to how it happened.

We do extensive trail riding, camping, ride in numerous parades each year, we have show expereience and expose our horses to a great many things. We fully understand that any time we board a horse and take a ride, something unexpected could occur resulting in harm to ourselves or the horse. We accept that risk everytime we ride and we refrain from blaming the horse or others. Enjoying these beautiful animals is not risk free.

For people who seek a bombproof, spookproof horse, or expect that a horse will NEVER react to its surroundings, new circumstances or expect a horse to behave exactly the same when it is faced with something entirely new, are not being fair to the horse and do not understand the basic nature of a horse.

"HI Danna
Dante is a wonderful horse. He is adjusting just fine to the Santa Barbara way of life. His paddock overlooks the pacific Ocean and Brad Pitt's secluded home with the mountain in the East. Him and Britini seem to be bonding a way close friendship. All the girls at the ranch have fallen in love with him. He is the most handsome horse on the ranch. Brit finally rode him for the first time yesterday."

I just wanted to let you know how Delaney is doing. She settled in just fine a little pushy on the ground at first, but now she is a puppy dog. She comes when she is called, nickers hello and is so way affectionate. She follows me around and free lunges with hand and voice signals only (thanks to help from my trainer) She is a way special horse. She is now in a large paddock with a neurotic and unpredictable thoroughbred mare (ex-racehorse). Thanks to Delaney the mare is now calm and easy to handle most of the time even afffectionate."

"Danna,
Just wanted you to know last saturday was the first chance I had to take laci out. We were invited to a handicapped riding stable on one of thier days off, to use the indoor arena without distraction. Four of my friends and I used the heated wash stall to scrub our horses.... Everyone had a good laugh when laci sat down before I even turned the water on. After that she did great. I rode her English, Western and bareback. We showed the new riders the patterns by walking through them. I barely had to use the reins, she knew exactly what needed to be done. We finished off the day with a quiet trail ride. When the day was done and I tucked my kids into bed that night I felt guilty, because I knew i had more fun than they did that day : ) Thanks, Maurice"

"Hi Danna,
I thought I'd let you know how Echo is doing. At feeding time he just comes right in, nickers and is happy. He has such a sweet disposition and will be a nice horse for me. I want to thank you for letting him come to our home, I do know how much you miss him (with good reason!). We can always keep in touch about him and if anything would happen that we couldn't keep him you would be the first to know. Thanks so much, and hope to hear from you soon! Mindy"
"Danna,
"Your webpage looks great and I wanted to update you on Sizuna, we call her Suzie.:-) We just love her! She loves attention, is extremely gentle, and is the granddame of all the mares. People comment on her all the time.
I wanted to let you know that Sizuna is in foal to a black Andalusian from Colorado, "Conquistador." You can see him online at He has great action and further more has a great mind and shows in performance classes besides halter. I am really excited and she is expected to foal the first week of April. I am enclosing a photo of her at 6 months along. She is now 8 months. I'll send you a photo of the baby when it's here. Very pretty isn't she!" Take care!

Just wanted to let you know that Zeus is really doing great. Coggins and all other vet checks came out good. He has put some weight on but I am floating his teeth on Friday. I have been riding him and working him a lot. I have a trainer who comes every Thursday for about 2.5 hours and is teaching me a tonf of stuff. He has really learned some pretty cool stuff. He is an awesome horse and I really love him. My sister is still struggling trying to find a horse. She went 4.5 hours one way yesterday and the lady misrepresented the horse. She said he was about 10 years old and he was more like 20. She is trying to match Zeus' characteristics and its been tougher for her. Hope you have a good Easter and Thanks again. That Morgan/Percheron on your website looks awesome. I have a feeling I will be buying another one soon!" Kim

I know whether you breed your own horses you probably wonder how one of the former babies is doing.
Liam is 7 now, and just back from a jumping show. He's still a character, but is finally becoming reliable for the most part. We love him and usually enjoy whatever trouble he gets into.Lauren is progressing on him, and would like to do more jumping, but she's just turned 13, so we're going to take that slower than what she likes. Here are a couple of photos you might enjoy. He's bleached out by the sun, but every October turns jet black. Feel free to use any of these photos in any way that benefits your business. "

"Hi Danna,
Sorry it took me so long for me to get back to you. Ladyhawke is coming along quite well. I've taken her to 2 living histories which she loves because of the people attention. I've taken her to one reenactment, she did very well for a new horse. She put up with the cannonfire, pistolfire, but didn't quite get the hang of saber fighting. I have a trainer working with her 2 days a week and I work with her one day. She's very intelligent and bold- she can do voice commands, leg commands, but refuses to neckrein, so we're still working on that. She's still very green. Everybody that sees her is very impressed, including the thousands of people at the living history. I'm not going to try to take her into battle until next spring. I'll keep you informed.

"Hi danna

"Danna,

Thanks for the reply. I think he is gorgeous too, especially I love the bit of white in his tail. We don't have a definite name yet, but I'd like to name him Lord Tennyson (after the poet, Alfred, Lord Tennyson) and call him Alfie for his barn name.

Hope you are well. Your website looks wonderful.

"Danna,
WOW, WHAT A HORSE!!!!!! Took him out today in deep sand as havent had farrier out yet and we had a ball. He did everything I asked amd more. He is just a ball. Jumps over logs and Danna, he is the GREATEST!!!!! It wasn't a hard ride though. I have had only one other horse I would put on a par with him and he was a Tennessee Walker Stud. He was my first horse and I trained him Dancer is a prize and cars were stopping on the highway and watching us. I adore him and he looks just gorgeous!!!!!! Smooth as glass. Will send pics ASAP! Thanks Danna and Take Care, Teri.

Oh my gosh!!! I just adore Dancer. He and I hang out all the time when we are not riding and when we are, it is a BLAST! He is the BEST OF THE BEST!!!

"Hi Danna
The horses are going great. We are riding them 2-3 times per week as the weather allows, msotly cross country. They were both a bit green under saddle as you said but are very willing and we have put quite a bit of riding mileage on them in the past couple of months. Though they have distinct personalities, they both have wonderful dispositions and a good work ethic (especially Wesson he reminds me of a horse I once had that I referred to as the businessman) I am personnaly mostly riding Wesson and even took hiim on a spring hunter pace competition a few weeks ago. Smith's new name is Sintar and Wesson's new names is Shazam. We have not driven Smith yet but we have drven Wesson and he is a dream to drive, very responsive. They are both living high on the hog and are very much enjoying all the extra treats and attention that they get. Best, Lisa
Danna,
I absolutely love Bella, she is wonderful and a glorious ride!

Thank You

Hi Danna,
I just wanted to let you know that Sienna is settling in wonderfully here. She's such a lovely horse, so responsive, sensible, and sweet-natured. She's aware of all the things going on around her, but not at all spooky. She takes everything in stride. Today I took her out for a walk around the neighborhood (I wanted to give her a chance to see all these new things before I get on her back). Bridges, cows, mules, goats, big dogs, little dogs, tiny ponies, fluttering white sheets of paper - absolutely nothing bothered her. Sienna is everything I had hoped she would be, and she's gorgeous to boot. She and Juliet are getting along so well. They seemed to have settled everything between them very quickly, as you saw. There's not a bite mark or bruise on either one. Thank you SO MUCH for matching me up with Sienna, for bringing her to me the moment I was ready for her, for the bit, the new shoes (!!), the halter and the lead rope. I appreciate it all so very much. Sienna, Juliet, and I will be spending many happy years together.
Happy trails! Kristin
Dear Danna,
I just wanted to let you know how Zorro is doing. What a great addition to our family he has been. He is quite a character and he is doing very well with us here in Oregon. He has befriended everyone who meets him and seems to like all ages the youngest rider was 1 year old. The vet said he was like a dog with a horse suit on. I think she is right. We have taken him to the coast of Oregon down into canyons and up to the top of Buttes he likes it all once he gets going. We are hoping for some trips into the Cascade Mountains the spring and summer. He has a companion here too she is a Peruvian Paso and they are suited very well for each other. Anyhow thank-you again for selling us Zorro we hope to spend a long and fun life together. Bill and Bev

Danna:
I wanted to tell you how wonderful Dances with Lady Tiara is! She's everything you said she was. I had never ridden a gaited horse, but she gaited the first time I asked her. Here is a picture of us on a 13-mile trail ride in the company of 140 other horses (to benefit St. Jude). She and my Arab mare are now best buds. My friends thought I was crazy to buy a horse sight unseen, but I never had any doubt that Tiara was my dream horse. Sorry it took so long for me to let you know how much I love her. We had such terrible weather in western Pennsylvania, I thought I'd never get a chance to ride! Thanks again for a wonderful horse!

Danna,
We had our vet over and he looked at both of them and was very impressed with their overall health and muscle tone. He commented: "What nice specimens!". We are working on a pre-natal care plan for Cabela and he asked me if I knew her breeding date. I told him I'd get back to him on that. We just want to make sure we are giving appropriate vaccinations at the right time for her and the foal. He also asked me about her prior pregnancies and how she's done delivering in the past. Any info you have would be great for her health history for the vet. I'll get those photos over as soon as I can. We had planned to ride tonight for the first time, but it's super windy and blustery here today... if I find the charger in time, I'll get some photos of that on the nice camera too. If I can't find it, then we'll make do with the lousy cell phone camera...-Annette

Danna,
She arrived yesterday afternoon exactly when Dennis said he would arrive. Well, I am in love with this girl!!!! She is everything and more than you said.. Have not ridden her yet as I am going to let her acclimate. She is lovely as can be and so far as sweet natured as I have seen. I have apple flavored treats as you mentioned she liked and she loves them.. I will keep you posted on our progress as we go along getting to know each other. It was difficult for me to trust this situation, and I am so glad I did. Sometimes life has a way putting things in our paths and I am glad I was open to see. Thank you for your wonderful horse and I will be in touch. Melissa
I wanted to give you an update on how Liberty is doing. First of all, I love her dearly. And she came into my life when I needed her most. My Arabian gelding that I have loved for 13 years passed away suddenly on June 2. Liberty was not working out for the inexperienced older couple that was going to buy her. I asked if I could spend some time with her to see how we fit. She was a sweetheart from the start. I have only been playing with her for about a week and she already comes right to me out of the big pasture. I have been spoiling her with lots of love too. I pick purple clover for her and she gets special salads that have been approved by a natural horse practitioner....apple, carrot, sunflower seeds, safflower oil, apple cider vinegar, flax seed, and some probiotics. The apple cider vinegar helps keep the bugs away too. I trimmed her feet for the first time yesterday and she stood right there. By the way, she has wonderful feet. I have been riding her with a bareback pad and a rope halter and lead rope so that we can slowly and gently get to know each other. She has been doing fantastic. Infact, yesterday I walked her around the obstacle course that the barn has set up. It has tons of potentially "scary" items, including a parachute that you can walk under. Liberty followed me through everything, no problem.

We work very hard to match the right horse with the right rider. Often customers want to buy a specific horse based on the horse's looks, but we may feel that that horse they have chosen is not best suited for them. The only way that we can be successful in selling horses to the right home and the right rider, is for the buyers to be honest with us as to their riding skill level.

We understand that it is impossible to make all customers happy and fortunately our customers have been knowledgeable, responsible horse buyers. The number one reason people get injured while horseback riding is because the rider overestimated or overstated their riding skill or experience level with horses in general. Or, because the rider places the horse and themselves in a bad situation and is unable to anticipate the result. Horses are large powerful animals, they are not machines. They all have unique personalities, tendencies, likes, dislikes, etc. and to have a great relationship with a horse, it requires a mutual respect from the horse and the rider.

Horses are beautiful animals that require tremendous respect, patience and understanding. We are firm believers that there is no such thing as a bad horse, only a bad rider.

We highly recommend that customers take lessons with their new horse if they are beginners or inexperienced.
